The chief executive officer of the Dallas Mavericks is Cynthia Marshall. She has held the position since February 2018.
Raised in Richmond, California, Marshall received a full scholarship to attend the University of California, Berkeley to study business administration and human resources management.
In the late 1970s, at the University, Marshall was one of her university’s first African-American cheerleaders.
Marshall worked for AT&T for 36 years in a leadership role focused on improving workplace culture and encouraging diversity/inclusion.
She retired in 2017 and founded the consulting firm Managing Resources. With AT&T Marshall became the first African American head of the North Carolina Chamber of Commerce.
In February 2018, Mark Cuban the owner of Dallas Mavericks hired Marshall following allegations claiming 20 years of sexual harassment and workplace misconduct within the Mavericks organization.
An American financial, wealth management, and lifestyle magazine Worth, named Marshall as one of the 21 Most Powerful Women in the Business of Sports.
