Since the release of self-love track Love Myself, we’ve been keeping our eyes firmly on LA-based-singer Olivia O’Brien and her musical adventures. Now ahead of the release of debut album Was It Even Real? she has unleashed new track Just Friends.

This storytelling track tells the well-known tale of when you get too carried away before realising you just want to be friends. With the focus firmly on Olivia and some smooth guitar lines, you can hear through her emotive vocals the heartbreak she’s experienced in past relationships, ‘I just like having you around, But I don’t want to be held down’. By the end of this short, snappy track you’ll definitely have got the message that you’re just friends.

Taken from her upcoming debut album Was It Even Real?, set for release on April 26th through Virgin EMI/Island Records, it follows on from the feel-good Love Myself. To coincide with the release of her debut album, Olivia is heading out on her Was It Even Real Tour, kicking off on April 26th in San Francisco. This tour marks her first major tour since she headed out with Jack & Jack in 2017 supporting her debut release It’s Not That Deep. Time flies when you’re releasing great music!
